Hello Jen,
I currently have one and I am not happy with it. I am auditioning soon and was only able to get a hold of another of the same but with a silver body. My personal one needs repadding. This is the issue: I have noticed a very airy sound in every Gemeinhardt I have tried. I cannot afford anything like a Haynes! I used to play a Haynes in college (was not mine) it was fabulous. What is your experience with my trouble? I have a Gemeinhardt flute and love it. Thanks.

Hello
I have played a Gemeinhardt flute for over 10 years and have never had an 'airy' sound from it in fact people comment on its full rich tone. without sounding like I'm telling you how to suck eggs (cuse I'm not) perhaps something needs to be serviced or your style of playing altered alittle?. Please don't take afence I'm just trying to help.
Art.

erm.... i own a gemienhardt, and mine doesn't produce an airy sound except on a few alternate fingerings. It's old, too so i expect that Artemis is right: try getting it serviced. No offense.
