 low C# on alto

Hi
Have only been play alto for a week or so but am try to get some chromatic scales going. Problem is although I have looked up the fingering for low C# I cannot get it to sound. I play C and then the C# key and all that happens is that it plays a note up the octave and however hard I try to loosen my embouchure to get the lower note I can't. I can get all the other low notes down to low C. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,
You shouldn't have to do anything with your embouchure, as it's only a semitone up. I would think the problem is with the actually C# key itself. The key is probably leaking, if it's popping up the octave. Press down the button, and see if it's closing completely. If it's not, take it to a instrument repair shop.

Hope this helps,
Ryan

I couldn't get that note for a year, it happens to begginer players.
