Does anyone own one of those GIG Clarinet Gig Bags? I am looking for one for my clarinet and alto saxophone. I was wondering how the quality is. Does it protect the instrument well enough for a 5th and 7th grader taking their instruments to/from school on a bus? Thanks for any info you can give me.

I would say that the soft-case gig bags are not neccessarily ideal to fully protect an instrument, as my director always says, "Is your case made out of titanium steel?... didn't think so!" Because he always rants about how we must protect our instruments. Anyway! My point is that the soft-case gig bags, although tons!! lighter to carry, especially for an alto saxophone, may give way to less prevention of damage, but when used with caution- they work stupendously. That is all.

i have the GIG case for ALto and i love it. i would not recommend it for 5th ot 7th grader, wait til they KNOW they're sticking with it and know how to take care of it with out thinking. Mine cost botu $80 and it's alright for the experienced palyer, not for an inexperienced one

Hi Dana, Just to let you know GIG have brought a new Moulded series alto sax GIG bag onto the market early this year.
It has all the features of a GIG bag with double back pack straps etc, is VERY tough and VERY light.
Take a look at www.gig-bags.com for the update.
The web pages are being updated right now with new pictures etc.
Hope this helps.
