What is so appealing about playing a musical instrument. Why do you like it so much?

For me, the most important reason is because it's fun. I enjoy playing alone & in a group. This has allowed me to meet people of all ages who share a common interest.
If I didn't like it I wouldn't be still playing 38+ years later.

i like it because not only is it an awesome time-killer, self-discipline, determination, and all sorts of other traits come from playing an instrument. also, it trains your ear, making it much easier to learn other languages and such things

playing an insturment is meant to relax, destress, and make you feel better. of course when preparing for performances, these are stressful times, but it's enjoyable when you perform for a group; not only does the audience enjoy the music, but you enjoy performing for them.

I love music, it's an outlet for me. I have fun with it. The other aspect for me is that every part of schoolwork comes easily to me, so I never really had to work much at anything until I picked up the flute. Getting a good grade on a piece of music means so much more to me because I worked for it.

Music rocks, in short. For me I stuck to violin because it was something I could do, and enjoyed doing. Also it's something different - there aren't really all that many *really* good musicians in comparison to how many people there are populating the earth. Also I find that music can express so much more than words (I seem to 'dig myself into holes' with words; with music that doesn't happen!) and yes, it's immense fun. Yes performances and exams etc can be stressful, but after the performance, what a high that is!! It's pretty amazing. And also these composers who wrote great works poured themselves into it, and to be able to be part of a performance of such a piece must be absolutely amazing. The closest I've got so fa is the depleted orchestra at Saturday morning music school, but even that's a buzz. Lol I wrote an essay about why I love music so much, so I'd better stop rambling.
In short, it's a buzz to perform, it's a great hobby, it's something not everyone can do, and when a player is at a decent standard it sounds good too!

Because instruments rock, and it also makes you smarter. (Even if you sing in the Chior)
