I was told by my teacher that I should do more jazz sightreading for saxophone. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good publication I could buy?

dont do any sightreading, just improvise and play to music you enjoy. The easiest way to sound good and have fun is to use blue scales. I the the D blues scale is the easiest to work with. (d,f,g,g#,a,c,d)

cityredneck, that is by far the worst advice I've ever seen! Do you not realize how crucial sight reading is in the jazz world? At gigs you're often expected to play a chart well on the spot w/ no practice time whatsoever.
And yes, the blues scale is a great way to add to many chords, but If you're just playing the same 6 notes over and over, the blues scale will NOT make you sound good.
