ok if i understand what your sayin g. to transpose from piano (c) to alto (e flat) you drop the note 3 steps. so if the note was a c on the piano it is a i think.
musically yours,

If your note on the piano is C, your note on the sax should be Eb.

Play a monior third below the piano. For example; if piano is playing a C, you play an A. If piano plays an Eb, you play a C.

Hey what's up people, this is what u have to do:
for example if u have C in piano u play A in Alto sax.
if u have C in Alto u play Eb in Piano
from piano to alto just go down 3 halftone (or 1 tone and 1 halftone)
from alto to piano 3 semitones up.
actualy in harmony laws u need to go to the sixth.
just remember the sixth for C is A.
Need another example? for F# is D#.
that also aply for harmony.
hope this help u.

Hey u guys ,
Actually it is not necessary u got through all that theory n stuff. It depends on what Simbolon wants to play.Let's say Simbolon wants to play a major chord in F and the piano is on C..I think it will sound much more nicer if he played a A or F. It is the same if Simbolon wants to play other family chords of minor or major......It depends.......I know this because i was a ex-choir conducter and Alto-tenor part leader
