Hello,
I have been playing the alto saxophone for 3 years now, and just a few months ago, my band director made me switch to the Tenor saxophone.
As soon as I started playing, I noticed that i have a problem, I am having a lot of trouble hitting low notes. Does anyone have any tips about how I can hit those low notes?
Thanks

A thing that'll help ya with NE sax with low notes. Drop your lower jaw. Be it Tenor, Alto, bari, or Sop

Another thing that I tryed (I also switched from alto to tenor) was playing a note that you play really good, maby a low G, and then playing a F,E,D,and then a C. Do this over and over again and you will find that it gets easier and easier.
What the past posters said is exactly right though, DROP YOUR JAW!!

Low notes. Same problem. Going from a G down to a D or B or C#. Well I had a Vandoren #2 reed in my mouth the other day and got distracted over a phone call. I nust have had that reed in my mouth for atleast an hour and a half or more. Finally got off the phone, and put that reed on the mouth piece. VIOLA WOW I went From a G right down. to a C just like that. I was so amazed, Ive had tnis trouble a long time. I just can hardly believe it. Good luck.
