pitches are really hard... my brother and 2 of my best friends play french horn....my friends are 1 and 2 chair and they both have been playing for 5 or 6 years and they still have a lot of troble hitting the right pitches...
as a sister and best fried to french horns i advise you to at least start on a different instrument.. if not i wish you the best of luck!

Hi!

My brother is a professional Horn Player and studies at the Music Academy of Antwerp, Belgium. It takes a while to find the right pitch but it is worth it! It's really a beautiful instrument! I wish I could play it as good as he does...

Greetz,

Yes, it is much easier, as a horn player i often pick up my bfs trumpet and one day we were just playing around and the director complimented my tone and pracitically begged me to switch, but no way, leave my french horn (affectionately named Todd by the way) NEVER. Lol best of luck!
