alto or tenor ???

Hey, hey
people I have a problem... I have always wanted to play all 4 Saxes, and I am now on my 3rd year of playing the alto. I have been in top band 4 both of the 2 years that I have been in middle school. Seeing as this will be my last year w/ my kick ass director I wanted to help my band out as much as possible, plus I have been growing tired of the alto. So after he had hinted that the band needed some 1 to play the tenor I volunteered to do it, so I took a tenor home over the break and fell in love w/ it as soon as I played my 1st note. And now that we are back in school Mr. W is saying that he wants me on alto B/c im to good 4 tenor.

So my question is how should i go about changing his mind?

You must be really good if you're TOO good for the tenor sax. And you're only in middle school?

You seem to be forgetting something here...your band director wants you on alto...to be honest, if you really want to help your band, you should play what your director wants you to.

As a tenor sax player, I'm somewhat interested in the comment you made about being tired of the alto. I can't necessarily agree with your director's comment about you being 'too good for the tenor' (I was switched to tenor in high school because I was first chair alto, so I guess our band directors have different views on this). Maybe your director made the comment he did because of the difficulty of music. Because you're obviously a very good player, he may be afraid you'll get bored with playing tenor parts (alto parts usually have more places for you to play, faster runs, etc.) Just think about these things, and good luck with whatever happens!

So what if she's only in middle school??!!! Stereotypical!!! I'm in middle school and I play flute, alto flute, bass flute, piccolo, 3 kinds of saxes, trumpet, piccolo trumpet, trombone, tuba, uphonium, clarinet, cello, viola, and violin. I am a young musician.
