Why's this in a music forum? It's a water proof material used in boots and clothing alot.

It is also sometimes used for clarinet and sax pads. (Probably for all woodwinds with pads, but I don't know for definite)

I believe it is based on PTFE (PolyTetraFluoroEthylene) otherwise known as Teflon.
