 Recorking
Author: Joel Clifton

A mouthpiece that I ordered from WWBW had a synthetic cork that stretched and soon formed a bulge which gradually pulled it away from the plastic every time I put the mouthpiece on or took it off, and within a few weeks it came off. I need to put a new one on (right now I have to hold the "cork" on while getting it into the barrel), but I'd rather not pay to have it done. I have cork, but I don't know what kind of glue to use. The kind of glue on the mp right now seems to be some kind of rubber cement. Would it work if I used rubber cement? If not, what?

I have used rubber cement when I had to replace a cork on my trill key on my flute. It did not work. It kept slipping and so I removed the cork and added super glue or krazy glue and it works just fine. I feel that super glue would help your situation.
I hope this helps.

There's something called Valentino Neck Cork Set advertised on musiciansfriend.com. Supposedly there's no grinding or glueing. It has an adhesive that's easy to work with. Take a look and if you buy it , let us know how it worked because sooner or later all of us are going to need to recork sax necks.
