 Soprano sax?

Is it true that it is harder to play soprano than tenor or alto? if true why?

yes.....the reed span is apparently large but narrow, which makes it extra difficult to vibrate. (very small mouthpiece) if you are switching from other saxes (most probably because no one would recommend learning it directly) you will have to focus more on the basics such as embouchure, posture, breathing and so forth. plus, intonation is far more difficult to control on the soprano, not to mention that you must have strong foundation on good tone production before hand....

I started playing soprano sax about two years ago, and I didnt find it as hard because I swiched from clarinet to soprano and then to alto. The embouchure is definetly alot tighter then Alto or Tenor, and intonation is impossible. But with time I think its something you jest get usedto.

its a matter of support....just let it be as relaxed as possible.......upper jaw doing almost nothing....except the upper lips maintaining the embouchure and making sure that theres no leak......

Do the names "gloom tube" or "misery stick" or "agony pipe" ring a bell? The intonation takes a lot of work to master.
