I would recommend a vandoren mouth piece, a b40, b46, or 5rv lyre are all good choices. Personally, i play on an m13 but then again i use size 5 reeds. I had past success with the 5rv lyre and many of my fellow players use a b40. Go to a local music store and try out several, choose the one that gives you the best sound, intonation, and blowing ease for your particular mouth and reed. Also, if you live in the US be sure to get the "13" (american pitch) version of each mouth piece because vandoren mouthpieces are tuned to A442 since they are made in europe. Best of luck to you.

Vandoren mouthpieces are your best bet. I play on an M15. It has a bit wider tip opening than the B40 or B45. However, each person's mouth and embouchure are a little bit different, so you should never simply take someone's word for it. You also need to match the right reed to the right mouthpiece, so bring yours along (and keep in mind that you may need a stronger or lighter one based on the mouthpiece you're playing) to try the mouthpieces out. Never buy a mouthpiece without trying it on your instrument.
This will make your playing sound MUCH better! Feel free to email me with any questions.

I play a Vandoren B.45 but also keep arround your student mouthpeice, because it gives you a better sound. Get 2/3 mouthpeices(all different) because different peices of music will work better with different mouthpieces!
Try Gonzalez reeds! I tried them and scince they are thicker They go great with dark and bright peices. Their what I play on all of my mouthpieces exept my Vandoren B.45. I use Vandoren 4 on It
