 Helmke by German Engineering Piccolos

My mom is currently looking at a Helmke by German Engineering piccolo on ebay, happening to be I believe adeal4_u or someone like that. Has anyone here had any experience with these piccolos?

Also, she is looking at a Jinyin piccolo. Anything about that brand name?

Thanks. I'm just trying to prevent her from buying another one that's a piece of crap.

Please do not buy any of those Piccolos!!! If you want one that will last and if you are on a budget try the Gemeinhardt plastic ones.. they last for a long time and have minimal intonation issues... I hope this helps.

I really, really, REALLY would not reccomend that.
Try a Gemeinhardt, my flute and piccolo(well, it's a school owned piccolo) are Gemeinhardt, and I'm really happy with both of them. My flute is getting a bit old and it might be time for a new one, but it's been good otherwise.

I would advise not buying anything from a brand that you've never heard of.

This is really not true. The Gemeinharts have a terrible tone because they are designed to easily produce a tone - right now. But after some established ability, they disappoint miserably.

The Helmke instruments are really well-built for their price point. Most of the Chinese flutes and piccolos on the internet are total junk. But these are solidly made and are an unusually good price.

The fact that someone bought an internet piccolo and had keys out of adjustment is not unusual.

If I read it correctly, these sellers of Helmke will allow return of the item. That is a very good sign. Better than 99% of the web.

Trust a long-time flutist and instructor, Gemeinhart Flutes and Piccolos are very poor tone-producing instruments and not worth getting. If you want real quality and tonal capability, get the Yamaha. 2nd choice for the price: Jupiter or Pearl.
