There's nothing BORING about a bas calrinet if you have nice developed music and a band strong enough to play challenging pieces of music. I'm the bass clarinet in My local symphony, and at 16, I don't consider that such a bad start. IT really comes down to the maturity of the musician in reference. I've only been playing for six months, I've played the clarinet for seven years and I vow I won't go back. I refuse to be another faceless clarinet player in a sea of many. plus I'm my own section leader AND I have cool exposed parts.

Bass Clarinet rocks! I love it because there are only two bass clarinets in my band and I frequently have parts that are exposed. Its great!

Hah, I'm 13 and played the clairinet for 3 years and know I'm playing the bass. it's so much funner. I play first chair, thats because I am the only one. (lol) I love my bass I named it Big Clair. I will never go back to the clairinet I had it and plus I like being first chair. Did you name yours?
