 Piccolo High B

11 days ago I bought a new piccolo. I have played on more expensive models before (Burkart and Phelan, Yamaha 62, etc.), but these were always borrowed from my school. I have always wanted my own piccolo, and since I didn't have thousands of dollars to spend on a new one, I bought a Gemeinhardt 4p. I have played piccolo for about 3 years off and on (as was necessary for school musicals and band music, etc), and I have always been able to get out the complete range of the notes. But on my Gemeinhardt, the high B-natural won't come out! High C will and so will B-flat, but not B. I have a feeling that the problem is not with my embouchure or anything like that (I use a Yamaha 62 in orchestra, and that high B has never been anything I have had to worry about). Are there any alternate fingerings or anything I can do to make this note speak? Thank you!

Hmm... I think there are some piccolo alternate fingerings here on the website!

i am not really sure......
but one of my flute playing friends has told me that gemeinhardt flutes' headjoints are designed quite differently.......which means they are quite special and are definitely more difficult to play then usual.....a bit of change and practise might be needed to control the new instrument......

Thanks for your help guys! I tried a couple alternate fingerings, and some of them worked, but they're a little awkward right now because I'm not used to them. I'll have to work on that. Hopefully I'll soon just be able to play the B with its "regular" fingering, once I get used to the headjoint!
