i have been playing the oboe for almost 1 year, but then i still cant catch the skill to play the lower sound in Bb or B.... could someone please teach me ?? or is it the reeds problem ??

you may want to check the reed, or your embrosure.. and also your fingering.. If you have an Oboe instructor he/she can help you with this problem.

Well....when i started Oboe, about 2 years ago, i had trouble too...but my band director told me to make a frowny face when playing C, B, and Bb below the staff. Maybe not like Frowny...but turn the corners of your mouth down.

When I first started playing the oboe, I also had difficulty playing the low B and Bb. Actually, my sister just started playing the oboe a month ago, and she's a natural! She can already play my band and solo music better than some of my bandmates! Well, anyway, back to your problem. As you play lower notes, always think of the word "O". Open up inside and drop your jaw. Never squeeze your reed because you must allow it to vibrate. Also, don't use your embouchure to control your sound. Instead, always use a constant, steady stream of air. Your reed and fingers could be factors to your problem, but you'll be surprised by how much of the time you're the problem. (Not that I'm implying that you are the problem.)
