The oboe takes getting used to.. especially comming from a single reed instrument to a double reed instrument. If you find a good oboe teacher and have a positive attitude about learning the oboe.. you will do just fine.. I hope this helps

Well, that's a loaded question my friend, but I'm just so happy you're not talking about marching band I felt the need to respond. :)

No, the oboe isn't easy to play. But, it's worth it if you have the time and energy to put into it. And the previous response is correct; finding a good teacher and keeping a positive attitude will help tremendously. Another thing that will help is for you to listen to other oboe players, especially oboe players from your own country. Good luck!

Good question. The answer to your question is up to you. Everyone's answer will be based on their opinion. Personally, I think the oboe is a difficult instrument to master. But then again, which instrument isn't easy? It just takes patience, focus, determination, perserverance and most of all... PRACTICE!

I'm also switching from clarinet to oboe and the only thing that i find hard about it is remembering that the notes are different and the reed takes a lot of getting used to.
good luck!

well, whats weird is it was like i had no teacher when i learned the oboe since i was in band since 6th grade and my teacher didn't and still doesn't play the oboe. surprisingly, i became really good and by the next year i was in the top band AND first chair. with little instruction i basically learned the instrument but i taught myself little tricks for reeds and fingerings. also, clarinet isn't very vocal so be prepared to use ur voice whhile playing. don't stress too much on embochure since that wil eventually come naturally. oh and have a tuner on hand since beginners tend to be loud and very sharp.
