I have this really strange question that i should noe the answer to, but i don't. When I play my sax for an extended amount of time, my lips start to burn and the corners of my mouth start to cramp up, is this normal and is there anything i can do to make it stop?

when i had band camp i had to play for over twelve hours in a day and ya your lips start to hurt. All i no is that when this happens don't just give up your instrumestant keep practicing but take breaks as well. Because all that that can do is strengthen your lips.Just keep playin and pretty soon you will find that playing for times that used to be hard for you tend to become easier. All i can say is just keep practicing. Hope this helps.

have you ever done any exercising in a gym, or ran a 12 or 20 minute run? and your legs started to hurt a little. its the same with your mouth. you are exercising your embouchure muscles every time you play. after a while of intense playing your muscles have gotten a good work out. by practising more and more your embouchure muscles will get stronger and will have the stamina to play longer. hope this helps.
