long tones. good 'ol long tones, cure all for a lot of things. play a note for 2 measures at quarter=60. after a few days or so of practising, you should find this easy, and move to more measures. you can do this on other notes as well, this will also help develope your embouchure. developing your embouchure will give more warmth to your tone and also help your range. hope this helps.

Oh, another thing to do is this crazy game called leaky tire. This is where you take a big breath and let a little air out of your front teeth and see how long you can last. Then you go try the same tyhing with your alto. It helped me. i dunno if it will wurk 4 u.

Leaky tire cures all of your woodwind ailments as does long tones. I find that if you swim it helps immensly. Before i was on the swim team i colud hold for 4 measures max onse i started 1000IM's I could hold for 8 measures on bari sax and 10 on clarinet unfortunately this still isnt good enough.

Certain martial arts concentrate on expanding lung capacity. The one I'm familiar with that does this is Chi Gong Breathing. While searching for it, note that the spelling may not be exact as it is translated from old asian languages.

Your body will get used to it after a while, DONT WORRY! I switched from the clarinet to the bass clarinet and I didnt think my lungs would hold out, but look at me now! I march in the high school marching band and I'm only an eigth grader!
