 i finally played an oboe!!!!!

i finally played an oboe. i'm michael the one who has been posting most of the oboe questions on this web site such as why are professional made reeds better that store bought. i went to my local music store and the guy let me play this yamaha professional wood $3700 oboe. i guess i won't be starting with that particular oboe. it was kinda heavy. i couldn't really remember the fingerings that well (esp. since i play clarinet) but i couldn't play any notes above e flat in the second octave. i also couldn't play the bottom b flat or b natural. what was going on? well i guess it was the fact that i wet my reed for about 30 second before playing that oboe. it was awkward. i had to hold the oboe higher than i do my clarinet. my not-completly-moist reed was starting to hurt my upper lip and i had trouble tellilng my upper lip to back off. i also played a wood ell buffet clarinet. i liked it. it was different because i have a selmer and selmer and buffet have different shaped keys. i could play more easily to top c( the second c above the staff) on that clarinet. the guy said the ell was about $900. i didn't have $900 on hand but may later.

the problem you are having is relatively simple to solve
but hard to explain......hehe.......
so go to:
http://test.woodwind.org/oboe/BBoard/list.html?f=10
and try to ask some questions.
probably the most noticeable problem i do not need to see in you is that you are already well confused over the techniques and rules of the clarinet over the oboe.
i was once also the same. sometimes still the same even now.
