Hey everyone I recently bought a Clarinet for $23.00 at a Garage Sale ( it's some off brand plastic thing) but I'm a alto and tenor sax player so I don't actually need some awesome clarinet I just need it to learn on....so I took it to a repair shop today and the guy said it would cost $200 to get it in good playable shape and when he was finished it was be worth $300. And my other option is to sell it to him for $30. so I'll either save $77.00 or gain $30 any ideas on what I should do something like that a reply would be appreciated

$200 seems high to me. A shop might ask $300 for a used plastic clarinet, but I don't think it would bring that on a private party sale. You might look for another repair quote. Myself, I wouldn't spend that much on an off-brand plastic horn.

it is probably a bundy clarinet. go to a flesher hinton and by pads and glue, and repad it yourself. it is a lot cheaper than getting it done professionally. then go get bore oil and a cleaning cloth. put bore oil on the cloth and pull through your clarinet. it will cleen it out. polish it with a soft cloth then see how much it is worth. if he still say 200 bucks to get it to work, he is bsing you. i got my bundy clarinet at a garage sale for 35 bucks when i was in fifth grade. same issues your having. i am now a sophomore and i play THAT clarinet in marching band. a little love does a lot.
