playin the flute is all about your diaphragm and omberchure (not sure how to spell that :S) but basically u focus the air flow downwards for playin first octave notes, kinda middle for 2nd octave and higher for 3rd octave work. make sure u drop ur jaw backwards for 1st octave work and push it forward for 2nd and 3rd octave. not to extremes mind but jus enough to focus the airstream. also remember to push with ur diaphragm!

If youre having a hard time getting a suond on your flute, try blowing across a bottle first (thats what my teacher made me do). To get a stronger sound, balance the air youre blowing. Dont blow completely into the flute and dont blow too high. Make everything level and youll get a good sound.

Remember if you lips are cracked, the airstream does not go directly where it needs to go, so smouther on some lip gloss but no too much or your flute moves too much!

Don't play them fast at first. play them as slow as it takes so that you can play without any mistakes. then slowly increase your tempo. Use a metronome and each day challenge yourself to increase the tempo marking by 2-3 notches. By the time you get to the required speed for the songs you will not have any difficulty technically. Also relax, even if something is marked presto you do not have to play it that way and a fast tempo does not need to be intimidating.
