 Value of my clarinet

I have a Evette & Schaeffer Crampon - Paris France clarinet. Serial number K22495... no model number indicated. Manufactured in 1969. Bought new in 1971. I was the only owner. Only 1 pad needs replacing. What value can I sell my clarinet? Thank you in advance.

I 've checked the buffet crampon's web site and found that your clarinet is a E13 model made in 1969. Depending on the conditions of your instrument, it may be sold for around $400 - $600.

Good Luck.

Unless it has had a complete overhaul in recent years, I'd say only about $300. "Only one pad" needing replaced doesn't say anything about the general condition of the instrument. It may actually need a lot more work than this or it may not.

Hello,

I am also wondering the value of a clarinet. My daughter is taking it up and may use my dads. The bell and other pieces have Chandler imprinted on them with a serial number of A-31451, and the mouthpiece and neck have Noblet imprinted. I'm wondering the value because it's going to cost us over $210.00 to repad and recork it. They will call us with an estimate of other work it may need.

Any suggestions? Should we do it or just invest in another one for her? Please any info would help.

Desperate Mom!!

I've never heard of a Chandler. There have been hundreds of small makers come and go over the years. In most cases there is no way to track them so it is impossible to assess the quality of the instrument to determine if this is a worthwhile investment to make.

Try to get another estimate if you can. Find out what the tech plans to do for that amount. Same for any other estimates you may get. It may be that there is some of the planned work that falls in the "should be done" category rather than "must be done" category.

Basically a brand new student grade instrument will cost around $600 at many local dealers and about $400 to $450 via the major internet dealers. If you buy a new instrument, stick to the major names Leblanc (Vito), Selmer (Bundy), Buffet, and Yamaha. Although not a major name, I've only heard good things about the Ridenour student instruments so this is another good make.
