a concert master has to tune the orchestra to perfect pitch, to explain happenings to conductor, and most importent of all to lead other instruments....

In addition, at least in theory, the concert master would also step in to conduct should something unexpectedly happen to the conductor at the last minute.

Huh... in the orchestra I played in, the oboe gave the pitch to tune and the concert master only said what instrument the pitch was for. He never actually gave any pitches.
