 Russel Hart: What's an s reed?

Like the topic says what is an s reed? is it a brand?

duh, a reed is a thin piece of wood that goes on all of the woodwinds mouthpieces (except for the flute)

It might help to know what instrument the reed is for, however if it is a storebought brand of some type, then a good bet would be that "s" stands for "soft".

And Smiley, you might want to go back and re-read that question.  :)
