theres many thigns you can do. a tip that is more musically for is to take few deep breathes before you go out to play or even just before you play. you could also just before you play is play your song a couple times to get all the nervous air out. you can also practise like mad so you have the piece memorized, but make sure to always use the music. this will make yourself very familiar with the music and you'll be more confident. another way is to play your piece in front of your friends, you'll getused to playing in front of people, and your stage fright should ease. hope this helps.

There was an earlier discussion - search this site under "nervous" & you'll find it. Many people feel this way before a performance.

Smiley,

Definitely go to the post Dori recommended you. To make it easier, the post was by "Valster", so after you do the search, look for that author.

Here's what I believe, if you go to a performance of audition, thinking, "I'm going to screw up", you most likely will. The best way to avoid this is to concentrate on the music. What do you like about it? Does it have a nice melodic line, or does it have a cool groove? Or does one part feel cool to play? Think about that instead.

Also, lately as I perform or audition, I usually think of it more as listening than playing. I know that's hard to explain. When I'm playing my piece, I'm almost pretending I'm the person I heard on the recording, playing for my own pleasure. Or in jazz, I'm trying to come up with lines that sound cool or groovy, to satisfy both me and the audience.

It's just one perspective of looking at it.
