how should i fix this? the pad underneath the second trill key (the one between second and third keys pressed by the right hand) of my flute came off. not the pad that covers the hole (near the mouthpiece), it's the pad that stops you from pressing the key down to far. it's an intermediate flute so the pad is made of rubber instead of cork. i was thinking i could just glue the pad on myself. being that is it just a trill key the problem isn't life threatening so i thought have a repairperson fix seemed overboard. so how should i solve this problem? should i glue it on myself or have it professionally looked? anything helps.

I wouldn't touch it myself, but if you really want to do it yourself, try some of that rubber cement- like stuff that clarinetists use to glue on their corks. I'm not sure what it's called, but I'm sure someone else here can tell you. . .

It should be easy enough to fix by glueing it on yourself. I assume you still have the pad that fell off? If you haven't got the pad and want to make a new one, it is important that you get it the right thickness. If you make a pad like this the wrong thickness, the tone hole may not be uncovered enough, or too much.

if you still have the pad then use rubber cement and put it back on thats the same thing that the music store will do. but if you don't have it then you will have to take it to the shop. hope this helps
