I would recommend you start on a piccolo with a lip plate... if you don't have one, get one.
The embouchure is similar to the flute's, but the opening is much smaller. The edge of the embouchure hole facing you needs to be higher up on your lower lip than on the flute. Watch that you don't cover up the hole, which you may feel tempted to do at first. I've always been taught that no more than 1/3 should be covered. Try not to overblow as well. At first you may feel like you have to, but really, the piccolo takes less air than the flute.

im asuming that you already play the flute so all you need to do for the picc is tighten up like your playing the high notes on a flute and you should be able to play the picc. hope this helps

Here's where pulling the corners of your mouth back can really come in handy. When you pull them back, you can have more control over the size of the opening so you don't have to "tighten" it, but rather just reduce the size.
I've been working on my picc a lot lately, and the books I've been using are Trevor Wye's Tone Book and Tone Development Through Interpretation by Marcel Moyse (two books that you should have as a flute player anyway.) Start with the middle register section in the Wye, it's easier to get a better tone and intonation than the low register that the book starts with. In the Moyse, pick melodies without C's and C#'s and play them slowly with a tuner so you can work on your intonation and tone at the same time.
