I'm starting to play the oboe and how far do i put the reed in the oboe? Do i stick the cork all the way down? I'm scared of breaking it! Can you help me please!?! ~Thanks~

Don't worry about breaking it... put it in as far as you need, as long as you don't force it. How far you need it in depends on your intonation. Push it in to make yourself sharper. Pull out to make yourself flatter. As a beginner, you'll probably need to push it in all the way.

Push the reed in as far as it will go. Unless you use extreme force, you can't push it in too far. DON'T try to change your intonation by pulling out or pushing in your reed. It doesn't work so well, and by pulling the reed out, your oboe won't even be in tune with itself. On oboe, you must control your intonation with support and embouchure.

you absolutely must have the reed all the way in to maintain the conical shape of the bore. The tube is conical, and if you pull it out slightly, it makes part of the bore cylindrical, therefore ruining the oboe's tuning with itself.
