ok i am interested in buying a 1960's bundy tenor sax and it needs work i am not going to lie. it is in a good condition considering how old it is. there is barely and scrathes, no dents but it needs new pads. I was wondering what it would cost me to get it repadded and cleaned up a bit. just a estimate would be great. it has all the proffesional keys exept for the low a key.
thanks for any help.
musically yours,
Jon

This sounds like what a lot of techs might consider an 'overhaul'. The cost of which can vary quite a bit not only according to what is done in during the overhaul, and who does the work. A median guess would be about $350-$400, more if it includes cosmetic improvements like key polishing. You might find someone who'd do it for less, but it would likely be a rush-job you may not be happy with.

Incidentily, there is no such thing as 'proffesional keys' on a saxophone. Many pros prefer the standard Low Bb-High F arrangement found on most of the vintage horns. These days almost all new pro models include the F#, Sometimes a high G on soprano, and nearly always low A on Baritone. There has probably never been a tenor manufactured with a low A.
