 Again ....cleaning

My band teacher says that the way to go is to take some cigarette paper or whatever and put some baby power on it and slid it into the pads and press down... is this a reasonable technique?

Yeah, the baby powder is new to me. Make sure that you don't get the paper that has glue on it- most of the packets you buy at the store have glue that can mess up your pads. Order it from a music store. Also, paper money works great.

I don't know very well how to do with sax but with oboe I use cigarette paper, and you can't imagine how they absorb water!
A friend of mine use them also with sax...

I saw the following on some site -- Use 'Regular End Curl WRAPS'. They are available at beauty supply shops.
I got a box of 1000 for $1. Under a magnifier, they appear to have a smoother surface than cigarette paper. They don't tear easily and are very absorbent.

again...I buy Yamaha Cleaning Paper. It cost $5 and you slid out a piece of the paper, put it underneath your pads and push down onto the paper a couple of times and it gets clean! works every time! My pads get sticky alot, and I can't afford to get them replaced every time, so cleaning paper is DEFINATLY the way to go. :D
