How would I transpose music written for the B-flat trumpet to use with an E-flat alto sax?

Add one sharp to the key signature, and move everything up a fifth (C --> G, D--> A etc).

Well, since no one has stepped up to the plate yet, I guess I will.

If you want to transpose trumpet to alto, you move all the written notes on the trumpet part up a fifth.

Thus the second line G on the trumpet parts becomes fourth line D on the alto part, low C becomes second line G, etc.

Here it is with the whole chromatic scale written out:

Trumpet: C Db D Eb F Gb G Ab A Bb B
Alto: G Ab A Bb C Db D Eb E F Gb

Happy transposing!

Ok, well apparently someone had responded and my browser just elected not to show me. Sorry, not trying to step on your toes there, Eoin. But hey, I guess two heads are better than one.
