 Meet Ember :)

Hi everybody, I'm an italian oboe student (third year), but I play alto sax in the band of my town from 1998. I'd like to play oboe also in the band and not only in my conservatory lessons, and I think I'll start soon even because I really love oboe, much more than sax.
(Of course we use oboe only in concerts, it doesn't march in my band, infact our oboist uses clarinet while marching).

I hope you'll understand my english :D sorry!

Ciao Ember,
I'm Italian too!!! And I had your similar problem during marches; so I decided to practise only in oboe (or other double reed intstuments) without marching and perfectioning for concerts only.
Hope this helps

Ciao Davide! Do you live in italy? :)

I think I'll use sax in marches and oboe in concerts, after all it's a pity if I forget how to play sax, don'you think?

Where do you study oboe?

Ciao Ember,
I live in Italy, Northern part, near Trento.
I studied oboe in Trento to a private teacher since 1994, after that I keep on practicing by myself at home and in band.
Sax is a good instrument and it's a good thing to play it (I think as a second instrument, because oboe takes a lot of time). Even if I prefer to play only double reed instruments I tried clarinet and sax but with no good results, so I left them.
and where do you live and study oboe?
Davide

(even if I'm not very good in english grammar, I reply in english 'cause I don't think it's polite talking italian in an international forum, anyway it you wanna talk with me you can register to www.scuoladimusica.it forum, there's also an "oboe room" but I'm the only user in that room, and sometimes there's another one girl. Anyway for the rest it's a good site, it was made by a friend of mine)

I'm from Urbino, Marche, you know?

I started to study sax when I was 8 but I took it seriously only some years ago (around 1996-98), when I got into the band. I played soprano and alto sax. Anyway my true love is oboe. It's curious that I started with a baroque oboe class, in summer 1999 and then I decided I was really in love :D and in 2001 (sooo late!) I got into a Conservatory. Now I'm in the third year in Conservatorio Rossini (Pesaro). But I'm also a Psichology student.

Oh, I'm a girl and I'm 21. You?

I tried to play oboe but it didnt work out very well... I play the fluta y the piccolo.

I'm am Italiano too but I don't know much Italian, I know more Spanish than Italian.

I plan to completely learn spansh and italian soon so I'll know three languages.

I wish you both Davide y Ember the best in your musical studies.

Amanda
