 split e on flute

thank you for info on articulated g# but i would also like to know what is a split e mechanism on the flute and what does it do/eleviate?

The split E is a mechanism linking the right hand E key to the lower G key. When you press the right hand E key, the mechanism closes the lower G Key as well.

Therefore when you play the high E in the 3rd octave, the mechanism automatically closing the Lower G key. That results in a clear and stable high E.
