 Theory of pit music arranging
Author: Jaysne

I'm wondering if there is something special about the way music is arranged for pit orchestras. More specifically, the way the reed books are laid out. And how much more complicated things get when the full score is adapted for a reduced instrumentation.

Anyone have first-hand experience with this or know of resources on the web?

There isn't a specific theory of music theatre arranging.

There are certainly orchestration considerations, largely dependent on what the instrumentation and available doubles are.
