I'm currently cane shopping and am looking for some good cane that I can order and use immediately. So far I've ordered.
Rigotti Cogolin - Green
Ghys - Okay, a bit hard/green
Chinese Cane/Ebay - gouging machine adjustment fodder
RDG R/O Bargain - Good results. not sure why it's bargain.
Can anyone recommend some good cane immediately?

I've had some success with Loree from MidWest. It is really nice cane, I think moderately hard and gouges up leaving behind nice sharp, crisp curls. The only downside I have found is that there is no halo in the sound that you get with softer cane. I know that sounds strange, but that has been my impression with it. It seems a little difficult for me to get dark sounding reeds from it.
That Chinese cane from E-Bay is garbage! I thought it was going to be similar to Golden Bamboo, but it was stringy and soft and I broke more pieces out of sheer frustration.
Try some of that cane from Innoledy, I have heard good things about it.
Try Grimaud from Weber and Davie cane. Davie cane looks about as perfect as cane can get, however, I have not had great results with it as of yet.
Rigotti is the only cane that seems to give me the best results. Try if you can to buy a kilo from the fields instead of a store.

I've had success with Cogolin Var. I got it from Le Roseau Chantant in Montreal, Quebec.

It seems to hold up well, and gouges smoothly, with no tearing, or shredding. I found it easy to get the tips extremely thin on my reeds.

Yes!
Dimiter from ''le Roseau Chantant'' is extremely reliable. He's a great oboist and it shows in the high quality of the cane he sells. Try it, you probably won't be disapointed.

You could try noble cane from oboeworks. it is medium hard cane and is pretty consistent. MSA from midwest is very soft and brittle, i wouldn't recommend it. Try to noble from oboeworks.

I have been quite happy with K. Ge Reeds. The cane takes a little time to arrive because it comes from China, but I've been very happy with the results.

Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up buying Bonazza straight from Italy. It took about 5 days to get here and has a really nice smooth medium feel and sound to it, similar to old Cogolin. It's working great on my gouging machine and scrapes up nicely. (Forgiving of an imperfect tip scrape as well)

Try the Charles cane from Charles double reed company. I, for a long time, LOVED the Davie Cane from Davie Cane Co. however they seem to have had some major problems lately getting cane out to people and getting bakc online. I switched to Charles and love it. Harder cane, but good stuff.
if you are looking for already shaped, try the Victoria cane.
