I've had some success with Loree from MidWest. It is really nice cane, I think moderately hard and gouges up leaving behind nice sharp, crisp curls. The only downside I have found is that there is no halo in the sound that you get with softer cane. I know that sounds strange, but that has been my impression with it. It seems a little difficult for me to get dark sounding reeds from it.
That Chinese cane from E-Bay is garbage! I thought it was going to be similar to Golden Bamboo, but it was stringy and soft and I broke more pieces out of sheer frustration.
Try some of that cane from Innoledy, I have heard good things about it.
Try Grimaud from Weber and Davie cane. Davie cane looks about as perfect as cane can get, however, I have not had great results with it as of yet.
Rigotti is the only cane that seems to give me the best results. Try if you can to buy a kilo from the fields instead of a store.
