Posture, lip pressure, volume of air, reed opening, reed resistance, all part of the equation...minus tension by bringing down angle and overcoming over bite problem by embouchure correction and new concept proves advantageous? Maybe? Hmm...

I was taught to 'balance the oboe', to maintain the balance of the right hand thumb and left hand index finger, and of course to play at the tip and not hold the reed with the lips, but instead cushion them (although i was taught also to rest the reed on the upper lip for a safe 'tip only' position by another teacher). So maybe adding the 'different reed style' factor will alter everyone's definition of a 'correct angle'? I always sounded better in terms of tone and intonation when i hold the oboe higher, although i have to be careful not to take in too much reed because i have an upper lip over bite problem.

Texts serves as guidance and personal physical variables are best guided through experienced teacher? I guess that's a possibility?

Howard
