The Oboe BBoard

I am returning to the oboe after several years of not playing. When I played in high school, all or my needs were pretty much seen to by my band instructor or private lesson teachers. I just pulled my oboe out of the closet, and I am ashamed to say it hasn't been serviced in years. Fortunately, it appears mostly sound to a visual inspection. Some of the keys stick a little, which I assume is related to needing oiling or minor adjustments. But I don't even know how to start looking for someone to do repairs. Is there a good way to find a repair technician? I live in Buffalo, NY. I tried searching online, but I haven't had much luck. I don't even own a phone book, and I lived in a different state when I played in high school. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Nora Post is in NY. I'm not sure how close to you. Has anyone here been there or had work done from them to elaborate further?

Nora Post is in Kingstone NY. If I look at the map it seems to be 350 miles from you.

Thank you for your suggestions so far. Unfortunately, Kingston, NY is quite far. Buffalo is located on the other side of New York state. We're actually much closer to Toronto than to New York City. But even if people don't know of a specific repair person in Buffalo, just knowing HOW to go about locating someone would really help. I just don't move in these circles anymore. Thank you!

Yes, Gary Armstrong is in Toronto and he is a good repairman.

E-mail him and maybe you can work out a single-day repair if you don't want to make 2 trips.
