Hi all,
I just received my used Stanesby baroque oboe, by vas Dias.a a=415
It's connecting ends is made wood with string wrapped around it. but I'm concerned that I will need more of a lubricant, it seems like I'm using a little too much pressure putting the pieces together.
What can folks suggest I use for a lubricant for this model?
Also, I've been trying to contact the makers, but I am having trouble finding them on the internet.
I did read the Nora Post article on line with Harry vas Dias, but the address looks residential.
do they have a website, phone number I can reach them?
And thank you all from the beginning of this month, much appreciated.

You can use regular cork grease on thread bound tenons, or a tallow and beeswax mixture if you want authenticity.

The thread is used to adjust the tightness, not lubricant. Unwind the thread until it fits snugly but not too tight. If it ever gets too loose, loosen the thread a few turns, then wind it back on (removes compaction), or add more COTTON (not nylon reed thread) thread. The tenons are very sensitive and will change frequently. I've had it in the same room for months and it still changes. If you're taking it to and fro, expect huge changes.
