so, im looking for advice on an oboe. im in dire need of an oboe right now, and i dont know where i can find a decently priced professional oboe. my dad joking around said that i should check out a pawn shop. should i? do pawn shops have instrumentS? especially a good oboe? what should i look for?

You never know! I'd do some field research first. Find some specific models to keep your eye out and approximate prices.
Selmer 101
Yamaha 241
Yamaha 441
Fox 330 or higher
etc.
Also figure out the approximate cost for one of these, and see if you strike it lucky! I'm always on the hunt for old Kohlerts myself.

Beware of pawn shop instruments. They are often STOLEN instruments.
