Susan,
Wow...very good on several points!
'Cheeks between the teeth slightly'... I don't believe I ever said that, but I tried it and think you are onto something very valid as a point of reference.
Side cheeks in question and the slight awareness of flesh between the molars is what Susan refers to. This is a good reference point.
And 'huff the reed' rather than tongue it as an indication of reed resistence...also very good. Do tongue for real in performance, and add this to our bag of tricks otherwise.
See, this is what Susan has to offer in addition to her love of oboe... great command of language and a useful pedagogical approach to describing technical points of refinement in our playing.
(Hey, I told you before she is an intellectual. And I mean that in a completely complimentary way. Intellect put us on the moon after all, it should be able to help with our oboe playing, should it not ?)
