S. -- Try "portando" as an alternative to "portato".
The "tent"-like marks indicate a sforzando, and the dots indicate that it is also staccato.
The slur over the eighth notes which also have dots over them would be like a legato tongue with a slight separation. My #6 mm 26 in an old edition has no such articulation.
