Well, if by recently, you mean since the beginning of winter, it may be caused by the extreme weather here in Montreal (it went down to -30 C last week). Reeds tend to go crazy in that weather. I know that "winter reeds" I manage to scrape here don't really work anywhere else (an the good, nice sounding, comfortable reeds I played in California for the past month and a half freaked when I came back home this week). So winter may be your problem.
I've been long time Roseau Chanant tube cane (and gouged cane, before I got my gouger, a few years ago) fan and never had any problems. But hey, reeds can be fussy!
