 Shostakovich Vn. Concerto

I was listening to the Shostakovich Vn. Concerto on my way to work this morning and noticed the for the first time how important the Cor Anglais is to the third movement (Passacaglia). I think I never noticed this so much before because my car stereo is so much better than any other stereo I have! Upon getting to work, I replayed the movement on my computer (well, yes, I do occasionally work, too) and noticed that in some early parts, there seems to be a wonderful blend of Cor and brass--am I hearing this correctly? Anybody played this?

Mike

Still an Amateur, but not really middle-aged anymore
