The last I heard about mr. Lubells superstaples (3-4 years ago) was that he was investigating or using hardwood as well as (hard)plastic.
A great difference between mine and his tubes is, I use a small ring at the very bottom to seal off air going the wrong way. I found this to be very important when I experimented with Lubells design. There was a certain resistance that dissapeared the moment I wrapped tape around the bottom.
Then I use standard o-rings. Can't say if Lubell does that also now, but in 1999 they where flat and too smal for my oboe. I also supply various sizes to accomodate for difference in oboe socket dimensions.
Then there are certain technical aspects and price issues that I won't go into.
At the time I investigated this, I did communicate with mr. Lubell about my ideas for development, massproduction etc., since this is originally his idea, but I sensed he wasn't much up to it.
