I encountered that in high school when i played in music camps with 8 hour sessions, right hand thumb suffered, and my shoulders started to feel sour. I never really thought about it and i guess that is not advisable because it might have been a permanent damage thing.
My teacher once played a loree royale and it was so heavy that he started to have back pain, he then started using a neck strap. It helped, but with consequences of making the right hand rely on the strap and a hunchback sort of appearance without enough self awareness. He doesnt encourage any of his students to use a neck strap. Once you have it on for a few months you wont be able to play without it. The thing i would suggest would be to rest more, because endurance builds up and eventually that will not be a big problem for you. I think there many books written on this particular topic? If the neck strap is the answer for you go ahead, but only if it is really very necessary.
