Hi,
I'm experimenting with ways to get at different kids of multiphonics on oboe (I'm not an oboist, I have a friend who is but she doesn't have the gear below to try).
One method I've seen is to pull the staple out as far as is safe, and this turns almost any fingering into a multiphonic of sorts. I'd like to make approach this more usable (less likely to fall off) by making a longer staple, any suggestions for existing solutions before I try 3D printing something? Here's what I've thought of but haven't tried yet:
- using a Chiarugi extendable staple might work but they don't go very far so probably not radical enough.
- would the staple from a baroque oboe (55mm) fit the socket of a standard oboe?
- what about cor anglais bocal, would that fit the socket of a standard oboe?
any other suggestions?
best.
Scott
