My wife just received an oboe from her recently deceased grandmother who played in the Houston Symphony at one point in time. As an oboe player, she is going to have it restored. We were trying to identify when it was made and I came across this forum. Hopefully, someone can help identify these letters and numbers.
We believe it says AY or AV followed by what looks like 36.

Per the table from Lars Kirmser (Musictrader.com)
The series AV or AY would be 1950's 1960's. If you correlate the lady's dates you may get closer.
Also, Peter Hurd at Oboes.us seems to be very knowledgeable. He sometimes contributes to these boards. Would be worth asking him.

A simple email to Loree themselves will give you the result you want. They are extremely helpful in this regard. To me , it looks like AY 36 .Best wishes.

Nice to inherit an old instrument, but you probably already know everything you need to about it. Just have a good technician restore it if it plays in tune.
